Workshop Went Well...

Last night's workshop on preparing a portfolio for jurying in as an exhibiting member photographer for the Charleston Artists Guild was well attended; I think we had about 20 folks present. I hope they got some useful information from it. I know I enjoyed presenting!

This tutorial is designed for those Associate Members planning to prepare their photo portfolio for jurying-in to become an Exhibiting Member. Any CAG member may attend at no charge, however.

Award-winning photographer, Larry Gale will discuss the points of a successful entry to Charleston Artist Guild's jurying-in process. He will go over the requirements for submissions and make suggestions on the presentation of a successful entry.

Larry will bring with him examples of photo entries with qualities that the jurors are looking for. And he will point out the admirable aspects of photos exhibited in the CAG Gallery. Members will have an opportunity to ask questions following the presentation.

My sister, Ginny, visited recently from Salt Lake City with her twins, Kat and Philip. I managed to get a few photos of them; here are a few that I liked. The group photo is with my Mom at her house.

Favorite Portraits...

As convenient as it is to shoot digital, I still love the tonality of film, especially for black and white portraiture.

This is a portrait taken a few years back of my friend Michael Richmond. Mike's an incredible artist working with the pencil, so check out his web site www.michaelrichmond.com to see examples of his work.

Anyway, this was shot with my old Canon 35mm film camera, an elan 7, using Ilford XP-2, a chromogenic black and white film that scans just beautifully!
